Rishikesh Mussoorie Package (4N/5D)

5 Days / 4 Nights

Overview

This Rishikesh Mussoorie package packs the Ganga and the hills into 5 days from Delhi with two overnight drives so you're actually spending your days sightseeing rather than on the road. You leave Delhi on day 1, drive through the night and arrive in Rishikesh the next morning (early) with a luxury camp as your base.

Your Rishikesh day covers Ram Jhula and Lakshman Jhula, the suspension bridges over the Ganga, an afternoon of river rafting and the Ganga Aarti on the ghats at dusk, before a night under the stars at the camp. On day 3 you drive up to Mussoorie and explore Mall Road on foot. Day 4: Full day of Mussoorie's best viewpoints (Kempty Falls, Lal Tibba, Gun Hill and the walk to George Everest Peak – the old Surveyor General's home, which is where Mount Everest gets its name) and in the evening we start the night drive back to Delhi.

The trip suits couples, friends and small groups with only a few days off who want both adventure and hill views on a sensible budget. You stay one night in a luxury camp and one night in a 3 star hotel (on double occupancy), with breakfast each morning in the hills. You travel from Delhi and back in a private vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many nights do I spend in a hotel or camp?

Two. Night 2 is at a luxury camp in Rishikesh and night 3 is at a 3 star hotel in Mussoorie (both on double). Nights 1 and 4 are overnight drives from Delhi to the hills so you have two full days free for sightseeing rather than spending them on the road.

When can I go rafting in Rishikesh?

Rafting in Rishikesh is normally from mid-September to June (it stops during the monsoon when the river is too high and too fast). The quietest, most pleasant months to be on the water are October, November and March to May. The operators will have their own age and fitness criteria so do let us know the ages of all those travelling when you book.

What is George Everest Peak?

It's a ridge on the western edge of Mussoorie, right near the old house and laboratory of Sir George Everest (Surveyor General of India) after whom Mount Everest is named. On a clear day it commands excellent views of the Doon Valley on one side and the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas on the other.

Who is this package best suited for?

It's ideal for couples, friends and small groups who only have a few days off and want both the adventure and the hillside views. It's a fairly fast paced itinerary with just two overnight drives so it's best suited to those who sleep well on the road. Families with young kids may prefer the version with hotel nights which we can quote for.

What is the best time to take this trip?

October to June is the best time. You've got rafting runs, Mussoorie is quite pleasant from March onwards and the winter months bring clear mountain views (with cold nights). July and August are the worst months with heavy rains, very slow hill roads and rafting ceases altogether so if your dates are flexible you'd be well advised to avoid those months.

Can I travel by day instead of overnight?

Yes we can go with daytime drives, inserting in a hotel night in Rishikesh at the beginning and one in Mussoorie at the end which will alter the price. Just give us your travel dates and number of travelers and we'll send you over a revised quotation for that new plan.
