Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best time for a Munnar and Alleppey trip?

September to March is the most comfortable time of the year as Munnar has cool days with clear skies and Alleppey has calm waters. The monsoon season from June to August colors the hills a dark green, but with torrential rain and occasional absence of roads on the hills. Eravikulam is typically closed around the time of the Nilgiri tahr calving season in February and March.

Does the houseboat have meals on board?

Breakfast is provided each day – including on the houseboat on the last morning. The package price does not include lunches or dinners. Typically, houseboats offer the Kerala style of cuisine on board for an additional cost, which we can book.

Which place is nearer to Munnar than Cochin?

The distance between Munnar and Cochin is approximately 130 km and it takes about 4 to 5 hours to reach it with stopovers. The journey goes through the Western Ghats and will stop at Cheeyappara and Valara waterfalls and the Pothamedu viewpoint, which makes the journey a part of sightseeing.

Does Eravikulam National Park always feature in the tour?

As availability is not guaranteed, Eravikulam is visited at the travellers' discretion. Entry into the park is by ticket, with a daily limit; the park also closes annually for the tahr's calving season around February/March of each year. If closed, or sold out, you spend more time in the tea gardens, lakes and viewpoints on the day's list.

Well, is it a good couple's getaway for Kerala?

Yes. Short, easy-paced, two settings (misty tea hills and quiet night on backwaters) are good choices for couples. It is also recommended for small families and friends who wish to experience Kerala for their long weekend.

Am I able to add Thekkady or more nights?

Yes. There is an opportunity to spend a night in Thekkady to visit Periyar and Spice gardens, and spend an extra night at the hotel or an extra night on the houseboat. Please provide dates of travel and we will provide you with an updated quotation.
