5 Nights 6 Days Kerala Tour Package with Kozhikode and Thrissur
Overview
This is Kerala beyond the usual hills-and-houseboat circuit: the Malabar coast and its hinterland, travelled north to south from Kannur to Cochin. The 5 nights 6 days Kerala tour package with Kozhikode and Thrissur starts at Kannur, where the Portuguese built Fort St. Angelo in 1505, then climbs into the forested hills of Wayanad before dropping back to the coast at Kozhikode.
In Wayanad you see the ancient rock engravings of Edakkal Caves, Soochippara Falls and the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. Kozhikode brings Kappad Beach, where Vasco da Gama first landed in 1498, the Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary, the Pazhassiraja Archaeological Museum and Dolphin's Point. The last full day is spent around Thrissur, with an excursion to Athirappilly Falls – Kerala's largest waterfall, fed by the Chalakudy River – followed by the Vadakkunnathan Temple and the Thrissur Zoo and Museum.
The route suits travellers who have already seen Munnar and Alleppey, history lovers and anyone flying into Kannur. You stay in 3-star hotels with daily breakfast, travel in a private vehicle, and finish with a drop at Cochin airport or railway station.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where does this Kerala tour start and finish?
You start at Kannur and finish in Cochin. Fly or take a train into Kannur, where our driver meets you, and book your return from Cochin International Airport or a Cochin railway station on day six. Starting in the north means you travel down the state without backtracking.
How is this different from a typical Kerala package?
Most Kerala tours focus on Munnar, Thekkady and the Alleppey backwaters. This one covers the north and centre of the state instead: Kannur's Portuguese fort, the Wayanad hills and Edakkal Caves, the Malabar coast at Kozhikode and Kappad, and Thrissur with Athirappilly Falls. It suits repeat visitors and history lovers.
When is the best time to see Athirappilly Falls?
Athirappilly is at its fullest during and just after the monsoon, roughly June to October, when the Chalakudy River runs high; paths near the falls can close in very heavy rain. From November to February the flow is lower, but the weather is better for Wayanad and the beaches.
Are the Edakkal Caves suitable for everyone?
The caves are reached by a steep uphill walk followed by steps and rocky sections near the top. Most fit adults and older children manage it at a steady pace, but it is not suitable for people with mobility or heart problems. The caves are closed on Mondays, so we plan the day around that.
When is the best time to visit Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary?
Kadalundi is at its best from November to April, when migratory birds gather at the estuary where the Kadalundi River meets the Arabian Sea. Early morning and late afternoon are the most rewarding times. You can still enjoy the mangroves and river views in other months.
Can I add Fort Kochi or a houseboat at the end?
Yes. Because the tour finishes in Cochin, it is easy to add a night in Fort Kochi or a houseboat night in Alleppey before you fly home. Share your dates and we will send a revised itinerary and quotation.
