Mashobra Shimla Tour Package – 4 Nights 5 Days Himachal Itinerary
Overview
Mashobra is the more tranquil side of Shimla: a hill village of deodar and oak forest, apple orchards and old summer homes just a short drive from the Ridge. This tour takes you to Shimla for the day and then to Mashobra for the night so you get to experience the Queen of Hills and then move away from the crowds.
You travel overnight by Volvo from Majnu Ka Tila in Delhi to Shimla, where you visit Christ Church, The Mall, Lakkar Bazaar and the Jakhoo Temple. Day three is Mashobra with a visit to The Retreat (the President of India's summer residence), the Shimla Water Catchment Wildlife Sanctuary, Wildflower Hall and the Italian villa Craignano. The final day is Kufri, Indira Tourist Park, the Himalayan Nature Park and Fagu before the evening Volvo back to Delhi.
The package is ideal for couples and families wanting a quiet, short break with some history and some forest walks. It's one night in Shimla and one night in Mashobra in 3-star hotels on double occupancy with breakfast each morning, and the two overnight Volvos will be there to take you around the hills during the day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Mashobra and how is it different from Shimla?
Mashobra is a tiny hillside village just a short drive from Shimla, set in deodar and oak forest with apple orchards all around. It's far quieter than the Mall Road and Ridge in Shimla, so it is ideal for those who want to do some forest walks, get some fresh air, and enjoy a quiet evening after a day of sightseeing in the town.
Can we go inside The Retreat at Mashobra?
The Retreat (the President's summer residence) is open to visitors on certain days with their own entry arrangements and potentially some charge. You can't necessarily go in unless it's on one of its visiting days (it will be on a visiting day if it's open to the public at all). If it's not on a visiting day, then you'll just be able to see it from the outside. Ask us to check on the day of your visit.
How do we reach the Volvo in Delhi?
You make your own way to Majnu Ka Tila in North Delhi and report there by 9 PM on day 1. The Volvo takes you to Shimla the following night, and you're in the hills the next morning. You take the Volvo from Shimla on day 4 and arrive in Delhi on day 5.
What is the best time for a Shimla and Mashobra trip?
March to June is good for walking and sightseeing, and October to November generally gives you clear views. December to February is cold with snow fairly likely at Kufri and occasionally at Mashobra. July-September is the monsoon season with the forests being very green, but the risk of landslides is also quite high, so if you're going then you'll need some flexibility.
Which meals are included?
Daily breakfast at the hotels in Shimla and Mashobra is included. Lunch and dinner are not, so you can make use of the cafés on The Mall in Shimla and the various dhabas en route. All meals and snacks during the two overnight Volvo journeys are at your own cost.
Can we add a night or upgrade the hotels?
Yes, you can add a night in Shimla or Mashobra, upgrade to a 4-star or heritage property, or swap the Volvo for a private car from Delhi. Just let us have your dates and preferences, and we'll send you back a revised itinerary and quotation with the updated price.
