FAQ's
What is Fontainhas known for?
The Latin Quarter of Fontainhas is the neighbourhood of narrow lanes and brightly-painted Portuguese-style houses with tiled roofs and balconies of Panjim. It is on this walk that you discover it, together with the island of São Tomé, at the old post office, at the St Sebastian Chapel, in a local bakery and in a Goan house.
What is Feni and do the tastings come with it?
Feni is the traditional liquor of Goa that is made from the juice of cashew apples or coconut toddy. The package includes a guided Feni tasting on day 3, and a Feni cocktail session on Chorao Island on day 4. They are for adults of drinking age, and if you are a non-drinker, feel free to join for the story.
Best time to visit this Goa heritage tour?
It can be taken throughout the year. Spice plantation and Chorao's trails are green during the monsoon (June to September) and dry and comfortable for walking during November to February. During the early December (around St Francis Xavier's Feast Day) there is a lot going on in Old Goa.
Would this tour be appropriate for older travellers?
Mostly, yes. The days are not rushed but the Fontainhas walk is on foot and the Chorao Island day walks in the forest trails, which may be uneven or muddy and to the ruins of the seminary. Let us know of any mobility requirements and we will reduce any walks or modify that day.
May I include beaches or additional sightseeing in this tour?
Yes. A night or two can be added to include a trip to the beaches of North Goa or South Goa, the Dudhsagar Falls or a sunset cruise along the Mandovi River. A room upgrade is also available. Give your travel dates, and we'll provide you with a revised quotation.
